Tokyo Babel is about a protagonist, led by a series of encounters, gains a sense of self and strength to keep on living for the future. It is based on a post-apocalyptic HELL/HEAVEN setting, and A LOT of lore is involved, so if you are interested in that area of study, then you would absolutely love reading how the story here plays out. I struggled through many of the descriptive action scenes. It felt like the writers are needlessly stretching the scenes with needlessly descriptive details of the battles. I mean, I didn't really care how "this sword" was as strong as "this modern weapon", or how "this injury" was as great as "this". Other than that, I really enjoyed reading the actual story-telling of Tokyo Babel. Every character had their own conflicts, and their own conclusions. The last (locked) route in particular, gave every character's conflicts and conclusions the brightest shine. A lot of these scenes outside of the action scenes, were mesmerizing to read. This game has two halves very badly sewn together.On the one side you have absolutely dull and boring slice of life with one dimensional characters (and no fanservice to speak of),On the other side you have chuuni/'badass' battles between angels/demons/gods.Unfortunately since the characters fighting are the ones established in the boring SOL scenes you never care for what happens to 90% of them.As such, this game is not worth your time. Just get something else with better characters (not hard to find since these are terrible) even if the fights might not be as 'epic'.. This visual novel is a bit tricky to classify. I mean, at first I thought it would be like Black Veil Brides's "We Don't Belong". Which begins with "The gates of heaven will lock shut, the pits of Hell were all filled up, and I feel, I don't belong here."And then it got worse. The story is epic and worth every penny. But still it is VERY dark, and is not for kids. There are multiple paths, which lead to one of three love interests. Still, this game will give you nightmares.Suggest getting it in the bundle, as both games are great.. One thing to be warned about: this is not listed as a "horror" VN, and, it's not one, but the beginning--which lasts for quite a while--creeped me out way more than most horror movies ever have. Let's just say that I am glad that I started this VN during the daytime and when I wasn't at home alone. I think if I had started it at night and/or home alone, I'd have probably closed it pretty quickly and then had nightmares. Actually, no I wouldn't have, because the suspense is fantastic, but I would have *wished* that I had.I've only played this one through to one ending so far, but I do recommend it. It's not perfect, but it is full of mystery and excitement and battles and such. Not a lot of choices to be made in this one, but for once I didn't really mind that. The story is interesting enough that I barely even thought about it. The art is great--except there is one of Sorami's character poses that really annoys me because it shows up a lot and who stands like that?--but all in all, both characters and backgrounds are well done, and there are lots of both. It's not going to go on my list of favorite VNs of all time--it's no Steins;Gate, but for those who like VNs and also enjoy fantasy/sci-fi, I highly recommend it.. Well, that was a long adventure. I feel kinda sad, because I don't want this adventure ever end! Every single route is interesting. (3 route in total, in which one's you'll get a lot desition making situation's, and because of your desition you'll get your (bad, normal, true) ending. Art style, character design and music are awesome! I'll hope you enjoy this adventure too!!. Tokyo Babel was such an emotional ride. It made me laugh, it had me shedding tears.The main reason I picked up Tokyo Babel was because of the voice cast, being a massive fan of voice actors and especially the main cast of Tokyo Babel made it quite an easy choice. The art was absolutely stunning, and the story description seemed interesting. What I didn't imagine was that Tokyo Babel would become one of my favourite Visual Novels.The Visual Novel is more than just a professional voice cast and pretty art, what really makes it so good is the overall story and especially the characters. Both the main and side characters were likeable and had good depth to them, even characters that didn't appear much had enough of a personality to not become a bland and forgettable character.Tokyo Babel is probably around 30 – 50 hours long, depending on your reading speed and if you choose to complete everything in it. There are 8 endings in total, split into three different routes; Raziel, Sorami, and Lilith.I would say that Tokyo Babel is worth picking up even when it's not on sale, because the quality of the Visual Novel is amazing; It has a professional voice cast, stunning art, amazing soundtrack, interesting story and likeable characters.. A solid and entertaining VN.Have played though all routes.Pros: - of very high production value and extremely polished- amazing voice acting and sound effects- multi-layered story and interesting plot twists- pacing in most parts is greatCons:- the atmosphere of the first 20 minutes deviates so much from the rest of the VN. What the hell?- the character Astaroth is pretty stupid in Lilith's route...Would recommend to all VN fans and anime fans (who haven't read any VN).
